The Dukes arrived at Villa María on Wednesday, August 21st, near
noon, at the main site of the National University. University officials
and host families were waiting for the arrival of the South African
choir with a light lunch. Later the Dukes went to their respective
homes to prepare for the rest of the day.
Around 17:00, a new encounter was scheduled at the campus of the National University of Villa María, in the auditorium of the Music Department. The Dukes presented a mini-show before an audience of university students. After the show, and a visit to the University's installations, activities were moved to the Luz y Fuerza Theater. The night started with the presentation of the UNVM Choir. The, the Dukes did their performance. The theater, as always, was completely filled. Finally, a long day ended at the installations of the University in the center of the city. Enjoying sandwiches, 'empanadas' and soda, both choirs mixed and had a nice evening. Thursday started early in the morning, when Dalene teached a workshop/seminar to music professors and students on the UNVM campus. After two hours of dissertation, when the Dukes arrived, a small public performance was used to demonstrate Dalene's teaching techniques. The Dukes also visited the Rivadavia College. There, they toured the classrooms, and answered questions to a group of students selected for the reception. Later, at the Sobral Theater, the Dukes first enjoyed argentinian folcloric dances and music, and then entertained the students of the College with their own music. The visit ended with another discussion with secondary level students of the school. Last activity for the day, was at the National Technological Univerity. The University Choir opened the evening, and the Dukes closed the concert with their show. A good night's rest was necessary before leaving Villa María for the next stops: Oncativo and Villa del Rosario. |
